I want to be able to have viewers of my DVD click on a static image of a caricature and have the photo turn into video of the real person. Is this possible?

Hi Peter,

I’m not sure about in the DVD menu, but here are a couple of possible options to accomplish this in the timelines.
(See link for short unrefined example.)

1#
- Place clip in timeline > trim to start
- Take snapshot of first frame
- Place snapshot in timeline before clip
- Choose an effect from the Effects Room that simulates a caricature/drawing type effect > apply to snapshot
- Take another snapshot of this new image with the effect applied
- Go to snapshot in output folder > open new snapshot with effect, in a photo editor (free Paint.net for instance)
- Modify to isolate character on a transparent background
- Import modified snapshot to PD > place in PIP track below original snapshot and size
Example here..

2#
- Open original snapshot with one of the Caricature Programs available online
- Modify to suit
- Apply same technique described above

I suppose for a DVD, you could use that modified caricature snapshot as DVD menu icon. But I don’t do much DVD creation, so perhaps someone else will chime in here with some better information on your question.

EDIT:
Hahaha, my answer supplied above, probably doesn't even address what you were asking.
