Welcome jesse669,
some additional information might prove useful:
1. What version and build of Power Director are you using? Go to "Directors Chair" within Power Director> Help> About, The information should be here.
2. What is the File Type and File Size of the imported clip?
3. Does it happen with any other clips or just that one?
4. When you describe "Freezes" does the program have to be shut down? Does it begin working after a period of time?
5. Do you have the Shadow File Option enabled?
Directors Chair> Edit> Preferences> Select the General Tab> Is this checked? "Enable File Processing to speed up high definition" editing.
6. Give specific information regarding your system: CPU, memory, graphic card, etc. etc.

Thank you for your help..
1. The version is powerdirector ultra 8.00.1930
2. The file type is mp4, it says the size is 898mb but that isn't right, i think that's the size of the entire clip i cut this portion out of that i'm trying to make work in reverse. The length is only 5 seconds.
3. The problem happens with any file i try to play in reverse in the timeline. However when i preview the clip alone it will play fine.
4. When i say freezes i mean it totally stops working and i have to hit "control, alt, delete" to bring the task manager up and shut it down that way.
5. Yes, the "Enable File Processing to speed up high definition editing" button is checked. But i did notice in that same window under the editing tab that there is an option for "Enable nvidia cuda technology to speed up video effect preview/render" which is not checked, would this help?
6. I have a very fast pc, im running xp pro sp3. cpu - 6850 quad core extreme @ 3ghz. memory - i have 3 gigs of high performance ram, but its only saying i have 2.25 in system properties. graphics cards - 2 nvidia geforce 8800 ultra in SLI. Mobo - nvidia geforce 680i SLI. I have over 1 TB of disk space, half of which is still free.

Hey there Jesse669,
Thanks for all the information you provided.
1. First thing to do is update your build from 1930 to build 2220 you can find the update at this link:
http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerdirector/patches_en_AU.html
This way you will now have the most updated version. And it might very well correct your problem!
2. Once you update, try to work with the MP4 file again to see if the problem has been corrected. If it still gives you trouble, import another file type to see if it still hangs up on you. I just want to know if its the MP4 giving you the trouble.
3. I am also suggesting you visit this forum which is part of Cyberlink. It has been very helpful to me, and you can pick up some very helpful tips by reading the various topics. You can find it here: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/forums/show/55.page
So lets go from here and see how it goes, and let me know what happens.
Kevin
