Dissolve transition

New to PD8, is there a real dissolve transition besides the cheesy ones included? I'm used to using Studio 12, it has a much better and more professional dissolve transition. I thought this was supposed to be the "pro" level of PowerDirector...?

Dissolve transition

Well, I found what I was looking for. It's the fade transition, however, in the professional world, a fade is not the same as a dissolve.

Not quite the "pro" level editing system, but it does a decent job for home video stuff.

Re:Dissolve transition

jdwebb,
A transition is also called a "wipe" in the pro world!

dissolve
Last modified: Wednesday, February 21, 2007

In graphics and video editing dissolve is a term used to describe a transition effect in which one video clip (or one image) is gradually fades out while another image simultaneously replaces the original one. Also called video dissolve, film dissolve, or linear light blend. The overall objective is for the image or clip to appear to seamlessly transition from one image to the other in a fluid motion. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/D/dissolve.html

Use of the term "fade" has been around for a good number of years.

How long have you been video editing - just curious?

Dafydd
[Moderator]

Re:Dissolve transition

Hi mozart134,
If you are talking about PD8, the PD8 download is 2 part process consisting of thePD8 PROGRAM -and a- CONTENT PACK. Did you download and install the both the Program and the Content Pack?
If you only downloaded/installed the PD8 program, without also downloading/installing the Content Pack, you will not see all of the effects, transitions, PIP objects, title templates, etc, that are available.
If you are talking about PD7, it is a single download, though has few less effects/transitions/etc.

Hi Captain Kevin,
I notice that jdwebb didn't answer Dafydd's question.
(BTW, all of the color boards in my PD8 are pro colors, except for yellow and light blue. And I am surprised that Cyberlink threw those amateur yellow and light blue colors in there. I thought this was supposed to be the professional version of PD. )
