What is timeline?

Creator's Description

Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 8.

Have a look at the timeline here: http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/video/3139

As you can see on the timeline, the "flickering" ghost effect was created by using a seperate PiP track  that was laid over the original track.
The original track shows only the "empty" elevator, the overlaid "PiP" video features the ghost.
By cutting ghost scenes down to 0.x second parts and adding them in inrregular sequences, the ghost will start to "flicker" over the screen.

For the creepy movements of the ghost in the end, I´ve advised the actor to move backwards and then reversed and sped up the video in PowerDirector. As human movement looks only "normal" and fluid when walking forward, reversing the video makes the movement look more unnatural and scary.

In case you have any questions, just comment on the video and I´ll answer your questions.

Enjoy!

Hard to believe this kind of scary movie can be created using PowerDirector. How did you create the effect in the elevator?

Hi Manal, I´m glad you find my video scary. And yes - I really did it with PowerDirector! The flickering ghost effect is actually pretty easy to reproduce. You only need to record same location twice, once without the ghost, and once with the ghost in it. You then put the "empty" version on the main track, and the one with the ghost on a PiP track. If you cut the video with the video in small pieces and lay it over the main track - voila, there´s your ghost appearing and disappearing!
