Boston Marathon bombing. The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest and most prestigious marathon, and indeed for many runners "the one" they have to run in their lifetime. Boston is the only marathon (besides the US Olympic Trials) that runners have to qualify for (by running a certain fast qualifying time at another marathon) making a place on the starting line very special indeed.
