Mayor Cook Asks MN Bonding Committee to Pave Luce Line

Creator's Description

In a meeting that wasn't widely announced, Hutchinson, MN Mayor Steve Cook asks the Minnesota Bonding Committee to fund paving the Luce Line. In his presentation, he states no economic drivers for the project but cites widespread support for the project. What he doesn't tell the Committee is that 75% of Hutchinson residents would like the money to be spent elsewhere and over 60% of Hutchinson residents won't use the trail once it's paved outside of Hutchinson. So Hutchinson and the DNR spent $1.4 million on prepping the Luce Line for paving and have no idea when that will happen. The sense we got at the meeting is that there are so many other priorities, that paving the Luce Line just isn't going to happen. So did we just waste $1.4 million dollars of taxpayers money?
