Here is my video from the 2017 IDPA National Championships. I came into the match with the goal of winning CCP and getting a bump to DM. I shot 14 of the 16 stages well enough to win CCP but allowed that miscle between the ears to get the better of me on two stages that cost me the match and a bump to my third DM. On stage 9 the train really came off the rails from the beep and I wasn't sure why until I watched the video. I was give the "Are you ready?" command, respponded with a head shalke yes and then there was a beep - no "Standby" command per IDPA rules. The beep surprised me and I pulled an activator sooner than I ahd intended and then tried to hurry up to make up which is always a disaster! I knew something was off but didn't realize that I dod not receive the proper commands until watching the video, obviously after the stage had been scored. Just goes to show you need to be in the moment and paying attention to EVERYTHING all the time. I make plenty of mistakes as an SO and realize they happen and if you want to run with the best you need to look in the mirror first! I shot with a GREAT squad and had a lot of fun and I know I can compete with the best, I just need to bring it for all the available stages next time!
