How to stuff up an opportunity

Creator's Description

The Great Northern Bikeway (St Georges Rd). This path was once a consistant 3m wide, over the cross overs and all the way down the path. 3m meant all users (although sometimes squashed) would be able to make it safely down the path without weaving or dodging. Since the water pipe upgrade, VicRoads, Melbourne Water and Darebin Council have allowed a dangerous and rediculous situation occur. We are now using vulnerable pedestrians to traffic calm cyclists through narrow sections of the bikeway for the overlord, the almighty car to cross over. This is pandering to cars that haven't really missed these cross-overs. This morning at 8.05am 383 riders had used this path. There would have been less than a dozen cross it when they could have. So why have we done this? Why make a perfectly safe and accepted path with 4 crossovers removed, open again to vehicles? We want to know that too.
