BY ERIC VANSICKLE -- The Cedar Falls boys' swim team earned the team title Saturday, Dec. 10, in the 33rd Boys' Marcussen Inviational at Holmes Junior High. The Tigers earned 545 points and set four meet records to outlast West Des Moines Dowling's 517-point effort. Austin Abbas was involved in three of the four record-setting swims. He swam the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay, which recorded a record time of 1:38.33, and set the marks in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke in 1:43.84 and 52.36 seconds, respectively. The 400 freestyle relay team also set a meet standard in 3:19.03. The meet featured three of the best teams in the state: No. 1 Cedar Falls, No. 2 Muscatine and No. 4 Dowling.
