Launched 9-30-2013, Amtrak’s new super “Track A Train” [TAT] on-line application is much more than an interactive tool for train info: location, number, name, origin, destination, direction, speed, and status. Amtrak’s TAT app is a virtual “space cam” for 300 trains and 500 stations that permits an instant zoom to ground level. In the future, Amtrak could add high value content for travelers: car rental locations, motels, restaurants, gas stations, and attractions. So new, most Amtrak employees are unaware of its existence. Be among the first to view this “killer app”. Amtrak should add “NEW” to its homepage “Track A Train” map to encourage public exploration.
